Smaller carbon footprint, less water consumption and reduced environmental impact.
Less emissions thanks to innovative production processes
At PROTEIN PRODUCTS we periodically assess our CO₂ emissions by comparing them to the European average. The standard used to measure the environmental impact is based on the amount of CO₂ emitted for 1’000 kg of standard protein hydrolysates.
Environmental impacts of the production of standard commercial protein hydrolysates (animal origin):
|Environmental impact per 1.000 kg of final product||other producers||PROTEIN PRODUCTS|
|Protein content||40 % – 55 %||45 %||55 %|
|Organic nitrogen content||7 % – 9 %||7,50 %||8,50 %|
|Origin of raw material||Animal by-products from the leather tanning and slaughtering industry||By-products from
the food industry
|Production method||Chemical hydrolysis||Ecological friendly
|Waste disposal / Landfill sludge [kg]||600 – 1.600 kg||0 kg||0 kg|
|Industrial waste water to sewage treatment plant [m³]||9 – 11 m³||0,15 m³||0,15 m³|
|Groundwater requirement [m³]||4 – 10 m³||0,05 m³||0,05 m³|
|GHG – Environmental impact
scope 1+2+3 [kg CO₂]*
|960 – 1.300 kg CO₂||70,4 kg CO₂||256 kg CO₂|

Sustainable production without chemicals
We do not produce with chemical hydrolysis, and we do not use dangerous chemicals. We are proud of our strongly reduced carbon footprint reference. When compared with other producers on the market, PROTEIN PRODUCTS leaves a very low ecological footprint to produce protein hydrolysates of comparable quality and market standard price!
